Hershey Felder Partners with School of Music to Establish the Hershey Felder Award for Classical Musicians

Award-winning pianist, actor, playwright, director and producer Hershey Felder is coming to the Herb Alpert School of Music to bring his unique brand of performance and pedagogy to students through masterclasses and a competition. Over the course of two days, students will work with Mr. Felder on their ability to engage audiences through performance, and deepen their appreciation for the historical and musical context of musical compositions. Six music students will then compete for the Hershey Felder Award for Classical Musicians, which includes a cash prize generously donated by Mr. Felder, in the culminating competition on Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7 at UCLA.

“We are proud to welcome Hershey Felder to the School of Music,” said Dean Judith Smith. “Our students are very fortunate to have this special opportunity to learn from such a talented and accomplished artist. I look forward to this event and a long fruitful partnership with Hershey and our school.”
