About FLUX

We work together to produce one concert each quarter, featuring solo and chamber music (possibly conducted), and handling all production tasks.
Repertoire is chosen jointly by students and Gloria Cheng.
Open to undergraduate and graduate students.
No PTE required, however, acceptance into the class cannot be guaranteed.
Attendance is mandatory on the first class meeting of each quarter in order to sort out repertoire and scheduling.

Course Objectives:

Exploring small-ensemble music of the 20th and 21st centuries
Learning to navigate new techniques, notations, and acquiring the mindset associated with playing new and unfamiliar works
Learning to interact with composers, including UCLA student/faculty composers.
Learning important aspects of music professionalism: organizational skills, entrepreneurship, concert promotion and production.
