Mill Avenue Chamber Players records John Steinmetz Compositions

July 25th, 2016 · No Comments

John Steinmetz, faculty bassoonist, was in Phoenix in June to produce a recording of three of his compositions. The Mill Avenue Chamber Players recorded John’s Quintet for winds and his woodwind quartet Fits and Starts. (That quartet was commissioned by UCLA’s Gary Gray for a performance by the UCLA faculty woodwinds.) The Pacific Arts Woodwind Quintet flew in from Stockton to help record Three Pieces for ten winds. This is the first recording of the quartet and dectet, and the third recording of the Quintet. John will return to Phoenix for the album’s release party on August 14. In the meantime, he’ll be coaching chamber music at Apple Hill in New Hampshire.
