Music Faculty Member David Lefkowitz and Graduate Composition Student Jamie Thierman Visit St. Petersburg–Part I

October 23rd, 2013 · 1 Comment

We are happy to bring you a series of reminiscences from this past January’s visit to Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia, by Music Department professor David Lefkowitz and graduate composition student Jamie Thierman, for performances and lectures. It is made somewhat more timely by the fact that Prof. Lefkowitz is making a return visit next month for additional performances and lectures. He says:

“St. Petersburg is North. It is cold and (especially) dark, there. The Mariinsky is across the street from the Rimsky-Korsakoff St. Petersburg State Conservatory. A statue of Rimsky-Korsakoff presides over the entrance to the conservatory.”
