The audiences of South Africa are in for a treat (as they have been for a number of years past) to hear the masterful saxophonist, Doug Masek, in concert and recitals and to hear him perform a new work written for him by South African composer, Noel Stockton.

For those of us who cannot go that far, I highly recommend going to Long Beach tonight and tomorrow to hear Doug perform a Gershwin medley with the fabulous Long Beach Municipal Band. Tonight at Marine Stadium and tomorrow evening at El Dorado Park. I plan to buck the traffic on the 405 and be there tomorrow evening to shout Bravos.

Maybe I won’t have a chance to see this show, but maybe next time, hopefully. I always love these kinds of instruments.

It is always a good thing to promote your music. He has a relationship with South Africa. He will be able to spread his influence even more by allowing more people to listen to his music.
