Chamber concerts at the Chancellor’s residence

February 14th, 2008 · No Comments

Perhaps not everyone knows this, but our Chancellor’s wife, Carol Block, is a classical music fan. One of the first contacts she made after coming to UCLA was the Chair of the Music Department, Roger Bourland, and they decided to try to arrange, with the able assistance of Professor Antonio Lysy, a series of private afternoon concerts for guests of the Blocks at the Chancellor’s residence, once or twice a month. These concerts will feature groups or soloists from the three departments that make up the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music at UCLA.

The first such afternoon recital took place February 5, 2008, and featured one trio and one quartet. Please enjoy the photos, below, of each group posing with Mrs. Block at the event.
