Audition Information:

Dates: Live auditions are held at the UCLA campus and are scheduled for January 30th, February 6th and February 13, 2010. Specific dates for each instrument will be determined at the end of Fall quarter.

Notification by email: Once the department receives your UCLA application, an audition appointment day and time will be emailed in December or early January to those who do not have a pre-screening requirement. We are unable to fulfil requests for specific days or times. Please check that our email is not filtered as spam.

  • This audition is required and is in addition to any lessons or other meetings you may have had with one of the faculty.
  • If you live within 300 miles of UCLA, you are required to audition in person. Students unable to attend an on campus audition may submit an audition CD.
  • You must submit your UCLA Application for General Admission before the department can schedule your audition.
  • For pre-screening applicants, only those selected for a live audition will receive an audition appointment. Applicants will be notified either way beginning the second week of January.

Audition Confirmation: Upon receipt of the appointment time, you will be asked to fill out an Audition Confirmation Form. Please complete and return the Audition Confirmation form as soon as possible after you have received your appointment day and time. Please be sure to indicate on the Audition Confirmation Form the repertoire you plan to perform and whether you wish to use one of our piano accompanists. If you do plan to use our accompanist, please be sure to bring your music with you. You may fax your confirmation form to (310) 267-0326, send by email to musicaud@arts.ucla.edu, or mail it.

Day of Audition: On campus auditions for the UCLA Department of Music will be held in Schoenberg Music Building. It is important that you arrive at least one half-hour before your scheduled audition time for check-in and warm-up.
