AUDITION REQUIREMENT

TROMBONE

UNDERGRADUATE APPLICANTS

Tenor Trombone: Perform a solo such as one of the following:

Guilmant, “Morceau Symphonic”

Barat, “ Andante & Allegro”

St. Saens, “Cavatine”

Bass Trombone: Perform a solo such as one of the following:

Lebedev, “Concerto”

Sachse, “Concertino”

Handel, “Sonata in F Major” edited by Doug Yeo

MM and DMA

Unless the program is specified below, you should prepare a full recital, demonstrating your familiarity with a variety of musical styles and periods, including the 20th Century. You should prepare complete works, unless otherwise noted. Applicants should be prepared to play a few excerpts from the standard orchestral literature.

Tenor Trombone: Your program must include one from the following: Larsson: Concertino Op. 45, No. 7; Casterede: Sonatine, or Pergolesi: Sinfonia.

Bass Trombone: Your program must include one from: Wilder: Sonata, Hartley: Sonata Brev or George: Concerto.
