PETER RUTENBERG marks his 17th year as founding music director and conductor of Los Angeles Chamber Singers & Cappella — L.A.’s premier chamber choirs — and has produced radio and records for over two decades. He is president of RCM records, producer of the Grammy-nominated Lauridsen ·Lux Aeterna CD, and will produce the Los Angeles Master Chorale’s broadcast season this year. He is also a composer of concert-, radio-, and television music, and has served as master teacher and clinician for various choral music festivals throughout southern California, as well as for residencies at UCLA and UCR. Rutenberg served as director of programming and production for KUSC-FM, beginning with the 1984 Olympic Arts Festival, and covered every major festival and arts organization in Los Angeles for the balance of the decade. Under his direction, LACS won the ASCAP-Chorus America Award for Adventurous Programming, and his long-running radio series The First Art won the ASCAP-Deems Taylor Award for Broadcasting. LACS has released five compact discs: three of 20 th century and contemporary American choral music and two featuring Mexican colonial music by Juan Gutiérrez de Padilla. Rutenberg received a B.A. in Music Education from UCLA, and studied choral conducting with Howard Swan at Cal State Fullerton and film scoring at UCLA Extension with Don Ray.
