DR. JENNIFER JUDKINS is Adjunct Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Bands. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of UCLA (Ph.D., 1987), her academic interests include aesthetics and arts education - she recently served on the National Board of Trustees for the American Society for Aesthetics. Dr. Judkins has published many articles and book reviews in the Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism, the British Journal of Aesthetics, the Journal of Aesthetic Education, Philosophy and Literature, Canadian Philosophical Reviews, Percussive Notes, and Medical Problems of Performing Artists. She has also given invited papers for the Canadian Learned Societies, the Performing Artists Medical Association, the American Society for Aesthetics, and the American Musicological Society. As of the 2006-2007 academic year, Dr. Judkins is teaching Bibliography for Performers (graduate class Music 204) as well as serving as a DMA committee advisor.
In the musical world, she has often performed with the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra and New Music Group, the L.A. Baroque Orchestra, the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, and the Japan America Symphony, working under such conductors as Myung-Wun Chung, Leonard Slatkin, Michael Tilson Thomas, Christopher Hogwood, Witold Lutoslawski, and Pierre Boulez.
